eMax
optimisation for DU-E8000 with older motor firmware
The most used functionality of our Windows™ based eMax software is to adjust the maximum speed for motor support of a STePS DU-E8000 drive unit with motor firmware 4.2.7-4.3.2. Various configuration changes can be done with eMax without a licence key.
Please only use this program for the older DU-E8000 drive unit.
For all other types of Shimano STePS drive units, please use the miniMax – program.
You need to buy a licence key if you want to increase maximum motor support speed.
freeMax
optimize & save energy
The main purpose of the Windows™ based freeMax program is optimizing motor characteristics of a STePS DU-E8000 drive unit in a very individual way. Most freeMax fans use this tool to modify the Eco mode in a very economical way to save energy and so get more out of a battery charge.
Please only use this program for the older DU-E8000 drive unit.
The usage of freeMax is completely free of charge.

eMax
With eMax the speed limitation of the motorsupport on a bike with STePS DU-E8000 motor will vanish.
Features of eMax up to motor firmware version 4.3.2 (for later firmware versions the tuning possibilities are limited, please refer to eMax documentation):
- motor support without speed limitation (the maximum set value in the eMax software is currently limited to 60km/h).
- individual max. speed settings for all 3 modes (Eco, Trail & Boost).
- display of real speed value on bike display.
- display of real total distance recorder value on bike display
- display of real day trip distance value on bike display
- possibility to adjust the wheel circumference to the real value for speed accuracy.
- possibility to change the gear configuration to real setting after mechanical modifications (mechanical vs. electronical [Di2]).
- possibility to change the transfer ratio to real setting after mechanical modifications.
- bilingual user interface (English/German).
- bike could be modified back to delivery status in next to no time.
- bike could be modified as often as wanted.
- could be used on bikes with mechanical and electronical Di2 gear switching on rear derailleur.
- compatible with all STePS DU-E8000 firmware versions up to 4.6.1. For using the full eMax 3.x feature set, motor firmware 4.2.7 – 4.3.2 is necessary.

miniMax
With miniMax the speed limitation of the motorsupport on a bike with STePS motor will vanish.
Features of miniMax:
- possibility to switch bike to “US” – mode to increase max. motor support speed to 32km/h (20mph) with correct indication of speed and distance on bike display.
- possibility to switch bike to “US – class 3” – mode on a DU-EP801 or DU-EP600 drive unit to increase max. motor support speed to 45km/h (28mph) with correct indication of speed and distance on bike display.
- independent of the “US – mode” it is possible to indicate current values on the display in metric units (“km/h”, “km”,..) or imperial units (“mph”, “mls”,..).
- possibility to modify wheel circumference in order to increase max. motor support speed (in combination with “US – mode” up to approx. 55km/h are possible). Not suggested for DU-EP801 and DU-EP600.
- works perfectly with the latest motor firmware version.
- compatible with all newer motor firmware versions (up to the latest).
- bilingual user interface (English/German).
- bike could be modified back to delivery status in next to no time.
- bike could be modified as often as wanted.
- could be used on bikes with mechanical and electronical Di2 gear switching on rear derailleur.

freeMax
With freeMax you can optimize the motor characteristics of your bike with STePS DU-E8000 motor in a very individual way.
Features of freeMax:
- decrease battery power consumption via lowering motor settings in Eco, Trail and Boost mode.
- increase and set values for “assist-ratio”, “max. torque” & “max. peak power” in a very individual way and so increase your trainig efficiency and fun in riding your bike.
- bilingual user interface (English/German).
- bike could be modified as often as wanted.
- bike could be modified back to delivery status in next to no time.
- could be used on bikes with mechanical and electronical Di2 gear switching on rear derailleur.

- If you use tuning tools to manipulate the speed of your electric bike, the warranty of your electric bike may be limited or expire.
